Orchard Creek Band is yet another powerhouse bluegrass ensemble to recently emerge from Colorado’s vibrant and vital bluegrass scene. The members bring a ton of professional experience to their shared endeavor.

The band consists of Jim Bertolin (banjo), Keith Murdock (Dobro), Jon Sherman (mandolin) and Janeen Bogue (bass).

Murdock handles most things in the songwriting department. His “Dyin’ Town” on the first CD, is a somber ode to a once bucolic hometown now blighted with deserted storefronts and weeds growing through the cracks in the sidewalks.

Added to their mix is a sparkling Western Swing-flavored instrumental jaunt on Leon McAuliffe’s “Panhandle Rag.”

Orchard Creek’s instrumental prowess is impeccable.

The band is a group of committed Colorado musicians who were enjoying local bluegrass jams in Boulder and were impressed by each other's talent.  Even though their musical backgrounds are varied, the combination of styles became a vibrant bluegrass blend of traditional, contemporary, original, and gospel touches - a lot of fun.  It's fresh picked bluegrass that is sure to please!
